On Wednesday, January 21, the 42.6-meter M/Y Lubenico caught fire about 4-5 km off the coast of Biliran Island in the Philippines. All nine crewmembers on board during the incident made it off the boat safely, say reports, but the superyacht was left in ruins.
According to ABS-CBNnews.com, the yacht, reportedly carrying fuel, left from Tacloban at 7 a.m. and was sailing to Manila when a distress call was sent at 12:40 p.m. The fire allegedly began at an exhaust pipe.
M/Y Lubenico was previously known as Lady Josefina in 1997 and Northern Light between 2005 and 2012. In 2012, she becameLubenico.
